Dates and Ramadan. What is the connection ?

Ramadan, the month of fasting for Muslims, is associated with fruit dates, as the fasting person needs to eat food that provides him with energy after abstaining from eating and drinking from sunrise to sunset. Therefore, nutritionists recommend to eat dates at Iftar and Suhoor (the time before dawn)
